Essays are the bane and the joy of thinking. They allow you to make something coherent of your thoughts, and you learn more about your ideas themselves by creating them. What could be a better way to learn about your own thoughts than by explaining them to someone else? You need to be as clear, as precise, in your diction as the poet or author about whom you are writing. Essays have the power to change opinions, make people think, and give insight not only into the topic, but also into your own state. Essays are hard to write well because you need to have a clear idea of what to say, or at least a basic on to develop as you go. They cannot thrive on conflict like a poem.

So onwards I go, to quit procrastinating and express a coherent thought about The Hollow Men.
